ENGL 1101 Outcomes

The English 1101 learning outcome that is proving to be the most difficult for me is Rhetorical Knowledge. This is the hardest for me because when writing a paper you now need to focus on the different audiences that will be reading your paper. I have never thought about that before this class. Also, we learned about the different genres we can and have to write in. We also are supposed to learn how writing surrounds how it shapes the reading and writing. I never recognized how genres change the way people write and how they read my paper or any other piece or writing. We also learned how to use the appropriate voice, tone and level of formality. This is still a little confusing to me. I didn’t know that there certain ways you are supposed to write a paper or any form or writing. I didn’t know some writing pieces should be writing in formal writing, and some should be informal. Also, I wasn’t aware that the voice should change throughout my paper.
